"Australia Representative Tryout" 澳洲選拔賽

Year 2017

1. Aim of the Australia Representative Tryout

    i. Promote traditional abacus learning culture and skills in Australia.

    ii. Converge Abacus Mental Arithmetic organisations all over Australia to participate in the WCCC.

    iii.Promote the World City Cup (Abacus, Mental Arithmetic and Mathematic) Competition (WCCC) in Australia.

    i.v Encourage current Abacus Mental Arithmetic students to participate in the coming WCCC.

    v. Select those oustanding students to represent Australia to participate in the WCCC.

2. Tryout Date: 28th January 2017

3. Time: 09:00-1:00 (* Refer to your Registration Receipt)

4. Venue: Penshurst Anglican Church, 2 Carrington St, Penshurst, NSW (If the total number of participants exceed the venue limits, we may change to another venue and you will be informed by email prior the event.)

5. Host Organizer: Elias Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Centre (Sydney)

 

6. Supervision Unit:

(1) Chinese Academy of the Abacus Association (Taiwan)

(2) International Abacus Mental HK Development (Hong Kong)

 

7. Participation

   i. Current Abacus, Mental Arithmetic Students all over Australia are qualify to participate in this Tryout.

   ii. The levels are divided into three groups: Group A, B, and C.

   iii. Each group contains the following categories:

Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6, Middle school (Year 7, 8 and 9) and Open (High school, Year 10, 11 and above).

   iv. Participants from Kindergarten category will be categorized as Group C automatically; participants from the remaining categories can decide to participate in either Group A, B or C.

8. Scoring

   i. Individual participant’s total score is the sum of three individual score obtains from Abacus, Mental Arithmetic and Mathematic test papers respectively.

   ii. If the participant’s total score is within the top range of each categories, the participant will be invited to participate in the 2017 World City Cup Competition in Taiwan. If participants have the same score for all three test papers, drawing will be carried out to decide the position.

9. Awards

  1. Gold Medal: Top 40% of the participants who obtain highest total score among each category will receive a gold medal. These medallists will be the representative in the 2017 World City Cup Competition and they will receive a confirmation email from our Centre.

  2. Silver Medal: Remaining participants from each category will receive a silver medal and they will be in the waiting lists. If there is any Gold Medallist rejected the invitation before our 2017 World City Cup Competition - Australia registration dealine, the next highest score Silver Medallist will take that place and become the representative. Then, our centre will inform the next highest score Silver Medallist with an email to replace that place straight away.

 

10. Registration

    i. Registration Deadline: 17th December 2016

    ii.Registration procedures: Email the following documents to elias.amac@gmail.com by the deadline.

    (Any email dated after 17th December 2016 will not be accepted!) .

    a. Complete the registration form attached (PDF or Word are acceptable!)

    b. A copy of your bank transfer receipt.

11. Registration Fee:

    i. Elias Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Centre students: $15 per person

    ii. Other students: $20 per person
